It is getting wired.
Two days ago everything suddenly worked (on Dapper AND Edgy)?!?
I was about to post that, but since yesterday it fails again (on Edgy and Dapper!) but with a different message:
"... localhost: read faild (15)."
Exactly the same thing as mentioned in the message from the KDE bugtracker linked above.

Both installations are on the same machine, but there was no change in the hardware (it is a Laptop).
