In the meantime I think this might also be an installer-problem (maybe synaptic), not specifically a KMid error.
I reported the problem 2006-12-10. In the meantime I downloaded a lot of patches / updates. Maybe uninstall and reinstall of KMid would solve the problem in the case the installer was improved in the meantime.

BTW: I am from Austria (not from Bavaria / Bayern). The proper term is "Grüß Gott" (with 'umlaut u') and rather an official form of greeting in Bayern / Germany and Austria.
