Yes, this bug is still present unchanged in Ubuntu 8.10 (Gnome). This was tested on a fresh install. The disk was wiped, Ubuntu 8.10 was installed, and kmediafactory was then installed from Synaptic. It does not appear in any of the Gnome menus. The package will however run from the command line.
