I also hit this behaviour in a RHEL5 + Sun Secure Global Desktop scenario.

I read through all the related info here now, and I think someone from the dev's
should test the patches submitted here AND drop a line to Redhat. They might
want to patch up their version.
FYI, i think I can switch my colordepth setting somewhere, but when I hit the
error I ended up getting about 200 windows created till I could kill it - *not*
pleasant :))
