This is NOT a gtk3 specific issue. As I said earlier, you must use:

$ SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk ./soffice

It's still not fixed with Build ID: e64ea98801d20e5024da900a0ac8faaf565f4bf3 on 16.04.
