My /etc/default/libvirt-bin does not contain the -d option, but the /etc/init.d/libvirt-bin init script does.

Example:
  start-stop-daemon --start --quiet --pidfile $PIDFILE \
   --exec $DAEMON -- -d $libvirtd_opts
