I can confirm no sound on a new Lenovo Y410 with a fresh Kubuntu Gusty install with:

uname -a
2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP i686 GNU/Linux

lspci | grep -i audio:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03)

Installing the backports did not enable sound. Adding options snd-intel-hda model=lenovo did not enable sound. Tried to compile ALSA 1.0.15 but I'm getting C-compiler errors. Linux headers-generic are installed.
