I also noticed one thing : snd-hda-intel , as a module, ISN'T existing on 2.6.24-16-generic x86_64 GNU/Linux
May be it's THE PROBLEM ????
So I also tried the way to download the last driver, e.g. alsa-driver-1.0.16rc2.tar.bz2 here : ftp://ftp.alsa-project.org/pub/driver/alsa-driver-1.0.16rc2.tar.bz2 (last release i found) Then i extracted it, compiled it and installed it.... No improvements (i checked again everything with alsamixer, sound properties, and so on...). No errors also during the reboot. The sound still is definitively silent..... ;-(((
Again Patrick...
