Comment 26 for bug 107115

I have this problem also, I'm using restricted driver fglrx with Radeon Xpress 200M on a Compaq Presario v5000 series laptop, fglrxinfo gives the following info

OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: RADEON XPRESS Series
OpenGL version string: 2.0.6334 (8.34.8)

When I logout, hibernate, susbend, the system blacks out after processing my request, I can tell that the computer is still operating normally, it's just not displaying any information.
When I try to get around it by checking "Restart Xserver with each login", the logout sometimes shows the login panel, however, if I type in my user/pass, the system hangs again.
