Ok, here's an update: I reported earlier that this behaviour had somehow vanished from my system...
Well, it's back again! Trying to fix an issue with hibernation, I found out that my install was not using swap at all. After restoring system swapping again, the issue with system lock-up/black screen after Switch User / Log off haunts me once more :(
Thinking back, the issue disapeared around the time I was messing with /etc/fstab settings (because of fsck running each boot-up) which mostl likely caused my swap partition to become 'out of use'...
Any conclusions that van be derived from this?
I am running kernel version 2.6.20-15-generic (Feisty 64bit) on an AMD64 machine.
