Is this going anywhere? Now when installing the updated packages starting pulseaudio returns a 1 (Rightfully so since it fails to start) and causes apt/aptitude to complain about errors in X packages.

i.e.

Errors were encountered while processing:
 pulseaudio
 pulseaudio-esound-compat
 pulseaudio-module-gconf
 pulseaudio-module-hal
 pulseaudio-module-x11
 pulseaudio-module-zeroconf
