I installed linux-backports-modules on my zepto znote 6625WD (using an ALC268 sound chip) and sound _is_ working, but when I plug in my external speakers my internal speakers are not muted.
I also observed that unlike in windows (be it XP or Vista), here in Ubuntu it _does_ matter where I plug in my external speaker jack, no "autoconfiguration" there (or jack sensing as I believe it is also called).
I haven't tried using the microphone.
