I have a Toshiba A205-S4577. I have tried the patch (Ubuntu 7.04 with kernel version 2.6.20-16-generic and alsa-1.0.14 installed from source). I have noticed this message in dmesg:

[ 2658.948000] hda_codec: Unknown model for ALC268, trying auto-probe from BIOS...
[ 2659.720000] ALSA /home/azunino/alsa-driver-1.0.14/pci/hda/../../alsa-kernel/pci/hda/patch_si3054.c:244: si3054: cannot initialize. EXT MID = 0000

I have tried with model=3stack and model=auto with no success. Perhaps this notebook has a different codec model???? In addition, alsamixer shows a PCM slider, but it does not show a mute/unmute button bellow the slider.
