Hi I am having a similar problem with my HP Laptop dv 4000 series. It has a Ubuntu 8.10 installed. I had upgraded from Ubuntu 8.04 version where this worked perfectly fine. After upgrade the the volume controls buttons started controling the microphone volume levels and mute functions instead of the Master Volume control as it used to work earlier. Could you please help me with this issue. Thanks in advance....
