Can you try booting with the 'irqpoll' option. That will at least hopefully get rid of one of the errors I was noticing in your dmesg output. Care to then reattach your new dmesg output?

Also I just wanted to add another note here. Hardy Alpha 4 will be out within the next day or two. You can download and try the new Hardy Heron Alpha release from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/hardy/ . You should be able to then test the new kernel via the LiveCD. It's typically easier than having to manually install the kernel as you have been doing. General information regarding the release can also be found here: http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks!
