I think I may have been able to reproduce this today with Trusty. The system dropped to the busybox shell. It looked like there was a timeout waiting to find the root filesystem by uuid. I took a digital picture and will attach to the bug.

Daniel, can you also take a digital picture of your system when it drops to the busybox shell?
