This is a patch against alsa-driver-1.0.17, which adds support for ESI MAYA 44.

This driver was made by Rainer Zimmerman, thanks to initiative of Piotr Zaryk.
I just made update, against new alsa-driver source code.
Unfortunately, nobody knows if this patch whenever become official part of alsa-driver.
If you want see this patch merge, in the next release of alsa-driver, please write a message
on alsa-driver mailing list: http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Mailing-lists

1. Extract patch to directory where you previously extracted alsa-driver-1.0.17 source code
   (ftp://ftp.alsa-project.org/pub/driver/alsa-driver-1.0.17.tar.bz2)
2. You can apply patch by typing "patch -p0 < maya44patch-alsa-driver-1.0.17.diff"
in the same directory where you have alsa-driver-1.0.17 and MAYA44patch...
3. If everything goes well, you can build new driver by typing

 a) sudo apt-get install build-essential
 b) ./configure --with-cards=ice1724 --with-sequencer=yes ; make
 c) now you should delete old alsa driver "sudo rm -r /lib/modules/`uname -r`/ubuntu/sound/*"
 d) sudo make install
 e) restart your system and enjoy your new ESI MAYA 44 sound under Linux.

(this was tested with UBUNTU 8.04)
