Given this module doesn't really depend on firmware or anything, it would be a good candidate to be in linux-modules instead of linux-modules-extra. That way it will be pulled in without having to use the virtual package that depends on the firmware too.

On Debian, Fedora and Archlinux it is a built-in. On OpenSUSE, it is a module installed by default.
