The kernel panics were gone with the 2.6.27-5 kernel that was released in Ubuntu about a week ago. However, the 2.6.27-6.9 kernel released in Ubuntu about 3 days ago was a regression and brought back the kernel panics. Since kernel 2.6.27-7.10 was released in Ubuntu today, I will test with this new kernel and see if the bug still exists or is fixed.
