Grub doesn't have any setting with that name (it isn't the "backlight" option set to vendor, is it?).

Modprobe has a few blacklist files:

blacklist-cups-usblp.conf blacklist-watchdog.conf
blacklist-firewire.conf libpisock9.conf

Could it be in any of them?
