I managed to get out of my "no-internet-lock-down" by downloading the newest version of network-manager-gnome and libnm-glib2 from my dualboot windows (not really sure if the second is necessary) and installing them on ubuntu, after a reboot my network manager was up and running again. Thought it might help others.
