I don't know if I should add this here, or start a fresh report...?
In relation to holding on to an old IP, I've experianced this, with a powerloss, 2x.

Desktop PC,
Dapper Upgrade- not fresh install.
NIC Card: 3Com Corporation, 3c905C-TX/TX-M [Tornado]

The GUI, offers no reset/adjustment by user.
I haven't found info, as yet, anywhere, even for commandline fix.
