Confirmation here that it affects Kubuntu Hardy, using KDM as a manager, and kde 3.5 (that is num pad works, starts in the right mode (on), but the light is inverted); It worked in previous versions (and I followed the upgrade route from previous versions, this is not a fresh install)
However, running numlockx on at any time sorts it out - guessing I just need to add that to a startup script somewhere (although it is not really a problem for me, so I haven't done this, as I would rather wait and see when a proper patch is applied).
