I'm getting this on my laptop (Dell Inspiron 9400 -- GF Go 9600GS), which I have just bought. So the only OS I've tried is Intrepid (64-bit and 32-bit), and this issue appears for me sometimes and It's really annoying to have to reboot. I've got the bug with all 3 nvidia options in intrepid.
Markus Golser, I don't really want to try your fix as I would like my GPU to perform when I'm playing games etc...
I'm wondering if this issue does not appear at all in hardy, and I'm willing to downgrade for a while if it's stable. Also I'm interested if there's any tricks you want to share.
phenest, in the the 109643 bug you mention that it gets fixed by tuning the cpu powersave to "performance", is this actually/still the case? I may want to try that although it seems lame to have a laptop without speedstep capability :/
Downgrading to hardy may be the best option...
