Almost the same procedure - using 2.4.0 on Hardy:

1. Put data in a cell.
2. Merge it will the next cell.
3. Copy it ctrl-c
4. Paste it somewhere else ctrl-v
5. Edit it F2.
6. On hitting return, oocalc hangs.
