Using Gaim 2.0.0 beta 6, (included in Feisty), I opened 30 tabs and noticed no dramatic increase in CPU usage. I was able to resize the window and shuffle through the tabs (using the left and right arrows) and everything worked as it should.

I think that this was probably fixed by now.
