Let me see if I've understood right - after upgrade to plymouth 0.8.0~-8, you do correctly get prompted for the passphrase on boot, which didn't work before; and then the screen is messed up afterwards? I guess that will be a new bug.

When you do see the prompt for the passphrase, what does the prompt look like? Is it text-only?
