Thank you for your bug. What version of rhythmbox do you use? herd4 had 0.9.7.90, which has been updated to 0.9.8 to feisty. Do you really have herd4 or did you install updates for it?

Same here with acutal Feisty and Rhythmbox 0.9.8.

In Edgy it was no problem to transfer songs to the ipod, in Feisty it doesn't work.

What happens when you transfer files? How are you transferring them, by dragging them onto the iPod in the source list on the left?

Can you test this with Herd 5. I sucessfully loaded an iPod the other day with Herd 5. Granted this was a Macbook, but syncing should be similar.

Tested again today on an up to date system, same problem. Dragging a song to the iPod does nothing. I tried a file that needs transcoding (ogg) and one that would not (MP3), same result. It is a second generation Nano.

Same problem here, a recent update must have stopped this functionality. This is an old ipod mini.

I had this problem on feisty beta. I installed the ubuntu-restricted-extras package and this solved my problem; after installing this package Rhythmbox correctly transferred files across to my ipod.

I have 0.11.6 RB and Ubuntu 8. I have restricted-extras package already installed. I am able to download podcasts to my laptop, and I do a drag/drop onto the icon that represents my ipod. stuff happens, i see the name of the podcast under "podcasts" list of my ipod. However, I eject, try to listen to this podcast, there is nothing. It's like an empty song.

Ops; Wait. The songs gets copied under "Music / Songs" not under "Music / Podcasts". This is a bug also, in fact, but not as major.. Sorry for the misunderstanding..
