This command works with Cgoban3 (the only Java-application I really use):
LIBXCB_ALLOW_SLOPPY_LOCK=true padsp javaws http://files.gokgs.com/javaBin/cgoban.jnlp

the "padsp" is needed to get sound if you have pulseaudio installed
