Realistically, I don't think this is going to happen for Feisty. We're now in freeze, and I doubt this would meet the requirements for an exception (see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FreezeExceptionProcess#head-b30a20fcdbd4ca2a1716a2c8b94dd8dc2ab2d71c)
However, it would be good to have the new version in Feisty+1. I see that there is now a new Debian maintainer, who might well package the new version (actually not so new by now!).
