I have a real dumb question so apologies in advance. Is this occurring while trying to either delete a "casper-rw" partition or trying to perform a manual install with an existing "casper-rw" partition in existence?
If so that can be problematic. I usually reboot with a gparted CD to clean that up if that's the case, if not just shoot me ;^)
