Unfortunately, purging and reinstalling flashplugin-installer solved the problem, so I can't replicate the error. I got the workaround from this post on the forums, though - http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1112676
Any suggestions on where I can find some log file that might have recorded this?
Alexander, running the command you've mentioned does nothing, because the problem has already been solved on my machine -
There is only 1 program which provides xulrunner-addons-flashplugin
(/var/lib/flashplugin-installer/npwrapper.libflashplayer.so). Nothing to configure.
The exact behaviour I saw was - When I started Firefox and went to a couple of sites where Flash was used, FF prompted to "install missing plugins" just as if they weren't installed. I was using flash based sites just fine before the upgrade.
To be exact (though I don't think that would make any difference), I cancelled the plugin installation without selecting any option, and restarted FF a couple of times before I finally tried to install the Adobe plugin.
When I did try to install the Adobe plugin, it said something like "flashplugin-installer already installed." It might also have said "nothing to do" or something to that effect.
So I shutdown Firefox, removed and purged flashplugin-installer, and then installed it again.
