Bug Description

When the progress indicator in a progress bar is half-way under a particular character, the character is half done in white and black, and is very hard to read. See attached screenshot.

(this is in dapper-flight-3 updated to today.)

Please test with last package.

This is a definite improvement, but having one character (which is tiny enough to begin with), that is half drawn in white and half drawn in black, is still hard to read.

Changing back to unconfirmed, as the request info has been provided.

I might add: It's worsened in Edgy: now _all_ the text in the progress bar is hard to read.

In Feisty, it doesn't have the Edgy problem.

I started Ubuntu with Dapper. Last weekend I upgraded to Edgy using the Alternate CD and Internet updates after.

I can't read the progress bar in Synaptic at all in Edgy. There are light gray characters on a white background, and everything on the bar seems to crawl around.

I use default everything for the desktop, right from the installation. My machine is not new - 900 MHz Celeron with motherboard Intel 810 chipset.

My edgy has the same problem.

But I get even more unreadable text because of (I think) the anti-aliasing on the font once the progress bar has advanced past the text.

See attached screenshot.

ubuntulooks has been depricated. It is no longer developed in Ubuntu or as an upstream project. It has been superseded by gtk2-engines-murrine since intrepid, and it has been removed from the archive in lucid. Due to this, I am closing this bug as "Won't Fix."
