I mean frozen when, say, when the camera app is in the foreground.

To risk sounding like a typical engineer, I strongly believe this is not a problem with libusermetrics. This library simply listens to DBus signals, and if something is stopping it for whatever reason, I don't think it can be fixed there.

I'd be concerned that all DBus signals to the greeter could be being blocked.
