This usually means that something is wrong with your dpkg database, please run:
$ sudo dpkg --remove --force-remove-reinstreq linux-headers-2.6.17-11
that should fix the problem. Can you please also attach the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/* to this bugreport? This will make it easier for us to diagnose the problem.
