Comment 4 for bug 103517

My install never hanged but the usplash was always 1024x768 and then switched to 1280x1024 (native) when my desktop appeared. I followed the OP instructions and it worked like a charm. One note about my setup is that after installation, I had to manually change xorg.conf to allow for the correct res/refresh for my LCD monitor. Ubuntu defaults it as 1024x768 @ 60Hz with no higher options when the monitors native is 1280x1024 @ 60Hz (nominal) with a max refresh of 75Hz. I've already filed bug reports for that issue.
