I can confirm this too, using usplash 0.4-12 on AMD64, with a nvidia card. The drivers are the nv ones. My GDB output it slightly different:

(gdb) run
Starting program: /sbin/usplash
(no debugging symbols found)

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
