I don't have a WLAN chipset. I'm on a desktop machine with a cheap ethernet card (Intel?) and using the e100 module. My problem arose when I tried to uninstall and then reinstall vmware. Just wanted to be clear that there's likely more to this problem than just the wireless issue. Thanks.
