To advise, reports focus on one problem at a time. Hence, if you have further issues, please file one report per issue.

Despite this, to confirm a WORKAROUND for the flickering, could you please test for this using https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-flashback (not Unity), and advise to the results?
