Bug Description

Hi,
I'm running Kubuntu dapper on a Dell D600 with Radeon card:

0000:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon R250 Lf [FireGL 9000] (rev 02)

after dist-upgrading and booting last thursday. I get:

o 1st a black screen with white lines (size of an underscore)
   on the right side
o 2nd the blue background with black lines (size of on underscore)
o 3rd when the KDM login screen comes up the display is totally
distorted. Wild horizonzal and vertial lines in the color used by
   the login screen.

ALT-F1 and ALT-F7 fixes the display and I can continue without
any further problems.

Up to now the opensource ATI radeon driver never showed this
behaviour. I did several reboots last Thursday so I can be sure
this is not related to the to the linux-image-2.6.16-19 update
that happened 2 days earlier (as suspected on
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/DellLatitudeD600)
