Oops sorry, forget my previous post. In Jaunty and Lucid, X will start up having the problem, but it will go away as soon as the middle button is pressed (I'm on Lucid and use the middle button so often I forgot the bug is still there).

Can anyone check whether the problem is still present in Maverick?
