Comment 6 for bug 40021

Sarah: the comment about no necessity to send the log is mine. I usually report bugs and provide info, but in this case the only info you can get from the X server log is that horizscroll is disabled in Xorg.conf. There is nothing the X server can do about that, because it is dexconf that disables HorizScroll and the server has to respect the options in Xorg.conf. My reply is excessive, I admit it, but the request of attaching log and config seemed to me, at the time, a "stock reply", which indicated that the reporter had wasted his time reporting the bug, and the developer had not read it.

In any case, from what I have read around, HorizScroll is disabled because it is considered bad usability to have the horizontal scroll, and instead programs should not have horizontal scrolls if not absolutely needed. At the time of the report I didn't agree at all, however after having got used to that I understand why it is so.

This is not the case for circular scrolling, which should just be enabled in config by default - but - correct me if I am wrong, this is the case in feisty.
