Hi. I have an Acer Ferrari 4005 too. I did a fresh install, accepted the generated xorg.conf, and added the following two lines near the end of xorg.conf.

Option "MonitorLayout" "LVDS,CRT"
Option "MetaModes" "680x480,1680x1050"

Works like a charm.
