I can confirm that the display now renders properly in Hardy.

Sorry for the delay...I finally got my hands on the computer again and was able to test it out.

The support for older graphics cards has an important impact on adoption since those trying out Ubuntu tend to try it out first on "an old computer just lying around". When it doesn't work then, they lost faith in it...especially since display issues prevent them from even getting to the desktop.

We should feel good about the fact that Hardy will impress.
