Can you try removing the VideoRAM line from the xorg.conf and re-try with the intel driver please.

Can you post the xorg.log from it not working with the Live CD pelase, does this fail in the same way?

Ignore the errores about sil for now, the sil164 is a laptop LCD driver chip which may / may not be used in conjunction with the 845 graphics chip.

You might like to have a look in the BIOS settings and see if there are any options relating to how much video memory is allocated.
