Same problem here: X crashes and login screen appears after (i) resuming from suspend and (ii) switching back from a VT. My /var/log/messages contains:

(a hundred times those "bad handle" messages)

However, here this problem occurs with EXA and UXA. But it seems that the Gentoo package xf86-video-intel-2.5.1-r1 is clean.
