The firmware-tools project aims at being a unified infrastructure to package firmware updates, discover firmware updates that are available for your system, and apply those firmware updates. While doing this, it tries to integrate as closely as possible within the systems already-existing change management infrastructure, utilizing native OS packaging and repository standards for packaging the updates and installing them on the local system.
