PPA description
As of early 2022, I no longer use Ubuntu, and will therefore no longer maintain this archive. My update-notifier patches and source packaging remain available here for anyone who would like to continue maintaining them. So long, Canonical, and thanks for all the fish.

This archive contains modified versions of Ubuntu packages, to address bugs and design flaws that aren't yet fixed in the official repositories.
Notes regarding update-notifier:
My patched version is able to show a notification icon (instead of launching update-manager in a minimized state) when updates are availabe. To enable this behavior, you must (after installing the package) disable update-notifier's auto-launch mode using this command line:
gsettings set com.ubuntu.update-notifier auto-launch false
In addition, builds for Xubuntu 14.04 (trusty) and later display the icon using libappindicator instead of the GTK+ status icon API. Unfortunately, libappindicator's status icon fallback support appears to be broken. Xubuntu users must therefore add an Indicator plugin (from the xfce4-indicator-plugin package) to their desktop panel in order to make the icon visible.

You can update your system with unsupported packages from this untrusted PPA by adding ppa:foresto/tweaks to your system's Software Sources. (Read about installing)
