KA Lite (proposed)

Do not use this PPA in a production environment.

This PPA will feature frequent updates and pre-releases. Please subscribe to this PPA if you are testing KA Lite and interested in the latest builds.

KA Lite is a light-weight web server for viewing and interacting with core Khan Academy content (videos and exercises) without needing an Internet connection.

The circumstances of the package is a bit extra-ordinary, given that it's intended for offline environments. So it cannot have any dependencies but aims to provide a portable .deb file.

Adding the PPA as an online source:

  sudo add-apt-repository ppa:learningequality/ka-lite-proposed
  sudo apt-get update
  sudo apt-get install ka-lite

Versions:

We are building 3 different releases:

 - ka-lite: The fundamental package. After installing, you should fetch
   online resources, from command line run: kalite manage setup

 - ka-lite-raspberry-pi: A special build for the Raspberry Pi that includes
   a setup for nginx.

 - ka-lite-bundle: This is the KA Lite server including so-called assessment
   items (exercises and video descriptions). This is made portable, an
   besides downloaded video data, you only need to bring the .deb version of
   this to use in offline environments.
