Bug Description

Release 0.4 (r31) - The "2011 End of Year" release
Windows 7 Ultimate
Freebsd memstick image (newest possible I guess)

Hi,
the problem is that I DID closed all other applications, even run it in safe mode but it keeps screaming that error
the program starts eventually but when I write the image on my USB it doesn't boot (got BIOS set up)

hmmmm.. you get this error with starting disk imager (rather than when trying to write to a flash drive)?

what device are you writing to? This looks like it's a problem in getting the device number...

I, too, am having these problems, preventing me from using the FreeBSD 9R IMG, as per instructed in the official manual for Windows USB installation.

I am writing to a 4 GB "Dane-Elec" USB flash drive, currently assigned to M:.

To clarify, again, I get this very error:
https://launchpadlibrarian.net/91446756/taggay_3.jpg

The application seems to write the image normally, but when I reboot it's to no avail.

It's USB 2.0 flash drive 8GB "byteStor"
Got no other to test

I eventually came up with another byteStor (dunno why I got byteStor only lol) USB flash drive and the error is the same
I wrote iso image of Windows 7 with UltraISO on both and it works perfectly
These pendrives however are having quite low transfer (writing data: 5-7 mb/s)

I probably found an issue
I've got x64 version of Windows and image writer doesn't work here properly
I've tried it on my netbook with x86 and it loads well, however I didn't manage time to write this FreeBSD image :)
Hope it helps you

I can confirm this error is caused by a floppy drive being installed in device manager that is not installed in the pc. Disabling the floppy drive has removed the error.

Yup, disabled the floppy drive and the app starts normally (problem exists on both 64bit and 32bit systems where a floppy is present). I'm unsure if the error message affected the program operation in any way, it seem to run normally despite the error.

Many thanks for that solution - my main porblem persists, I still don't get a bootable image written of the Hexxeh's Chromium images, not the most current vanilla one, not the lime edition form december. Tested two usb sticks on two different machines.

I get this error when the app tries to read the StorageDeviceProperty of my Office 2010 click-to-run virtual disk in function GetDisksProperty(). I'm using release 0.5 on Windows 7 64-bit.

If I remove Office click to run, and so the drive associated, I no longer have the error 1.

WIn7x64, Asus laptop. I get the same message. Win32DiskImager seems to start after I click the OK on the error message popup.

There are several "devices" on this laptop that may be confusing things:
Asus Web Storage Drive (I've never even tried this and I don't think it's activated, but the software was preinstalled)
A BlueRay writer/reader drive
A Virtual DVD drive (Daemontools)
A hard drive partition containing a TrueCrypt filesystem. I wonder if this might be the issue? The drive shows as "T:" but I get an error when I right-click properties. This is, of course, because TrueCrypt has written its stuff to the HD and it's unrecognizable to windows.

Other than the above things, I don't know what might be triggering the error.

I have been able to reproduce this now and have found where the error is being generated. I will try to get this fixed in the next release.

Tobin,

For what it is worth BoxCryptor causes this problem on Windows Professional x64 with Version 0.7.

Exit BoxCryptor and the Errror goes away.

I can confirm Tom Schlodder (tom-schlodder). I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x64, using release 0.9. I get the error message while BoxCryptor Classic is running. Exiting (and thus unmounting the BoxCryptor volume) resolves the problem.

This error also occurs if you are running CloudBerry online backup with a virtual disk mounted. Disabling the virtual sick in cloudberry resolves the issue.
